In a large country like India, the law like RTI was very much needed.This law exposed a lot of scams, and a lot of scam was stopped due to the RTI law, this law gives you the right, to know all the work being done by the government.
The RTI Act was passed in the Parliament of India on 15 June 2005, but the law came into force on 12 October 2005.
After the RTI Act, very big scams were caught, even big leaders were caught and went to jail, information flowed from RTI to the common man of the country, all the information(except some departments) you could ask through RTI 2005 from all Government sector.

1.Commonwealth Games Scam - In 2010, a big scam was exposed by RTI,Whose name was Commonwealth Games scam, The loss of 70 thousand crores was caused to the country by the Commonwealth Games scam. An NGO had exposed the scam by filing an RTI.
2.Adarsh Society Scam - This scam was exposed in 2010 when an organization filed an RTI. A 31-storey apartment was built in 1999 for a family of soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil war, the RTI revealed that politicians, bureaucrats and military officers violated the rules to distribute flats among their relatives.
3.2G Scam - The scam was also revealed through RTI. This scam was the biggest scam in India. The 2G scam was a scam of 1.76 lakh crore rupees.The 2G scam was the second in the world.
4. Demonetization announced without RBI nod - This came to light when an RTI activist Venkatesh Nayak filed an RTI with the RBI. This was just the decision of the government, government hid a lot from rbi for its benefit. Which was a scam.
5.23,000 loan fraud cases in past 5 years - In the last few years, there has been a scam
of 1 lakh crore by different banks. There have been 23 thousand cases of bank fraud.

But in the life of the common man, this relief has come to the fore, from the Panchayat level to the Parliament, you can ask for information through RTI. You can get information about the government fund, you can get your information such as copy of OMR, passport status, any application status from RTI.
